The pass QB Ken Stabler to TE Dave Casper "The Ghost" his incredible catch gained 42 yards led to game tying field goal sending game into OT

"Offensive coordinator Tom Flores called for a pass designed to go to one of the two wide receivers running 'in' patterns, but told Stabler to 'take a peek at the Ghost to the post', referring to a deep pattern by Casper down the field and then angling to the goal post. 
On NFL's Greatest Games, Madden explained Casper's job on the play was normally to draw away the opposing team's safeties so the receivers could make a catch, but Flores had noticed the safeties had been playing closer to the line of scrimmage than usual, which is what prompted Flores to tell Madden/Stabler to look for Casper downfield. 

Hall of Fame coach John Madden called the moment one of the most memorable of his coaching career."

Dan Daly: "...Flores, to his everlasting credit, took his job seriously and wrote pieces that were very educational.  He was – a really good explainer, which is one of the reasons, no doubt, he went on to win two Super Bowls as a coach.

His wheelhouse, of course, was the quarterback position. That’s where he was at his best. 

This may sound pretty basic in 2014, but in 1962 it was virtually unheard of. You just didn’t get analysis like that.

Clearly, Flores’ talents went beyond quarterbacking and coaching. His analysis in his Monday Morning Quarterback column was far ahead of its time — good enough to pass muster today. Even the Tribune’s diagrams...painted a decent picture of pro football in the early ’60s..."

then they have repeatedly written it for 28 years without Coach Tom Flores)
